Rows of olive trees in the Mangawhai olive grove

Tara Iti Olive Oil was born from our love of the natural world and our passion for good food.  From our peaceful Mangawhai home, we’re excited to share a taste of this special place with you. Our oil is made in small batches, so every drop is something unique.

Each bottle is made with care, bringing together nature’s finest and a thoughtful human touch. Tara Iti Olive Oil is our way of bottling a little piece of our sanctuary – and a love of great flavour – to share with you.

THE AREA

M a n g a w h a i : A C o a s t a l M u s e

Perched on New Zealand’s North Island, Mangawhai is a realm of contrasts – where rugged coastline gives way to golden dunes, and ancient kauri forests whisper beside briny ocean winds. This is a place that feels secret. Sacred. At the edge of the Pacific, where the land tilts towards the sea, our olive trees drink deeply from subterranean waters.

The unique terroir – sun warmed sands, ocean breezes, and nutrient rich soil – imparts a complexity and character into our olive oil that can be tasted in every pour.

THE GROVE

A n O r c h a r d o f I n t e n t i o n

Tucked discreetly behind Tern Point’s sculptural dunes, the grove is home to just over 600 olive trees, each one nurtured, watched, and harvested by hand. Our tree varieties come from storied olive regions across the world – from the rolling hills of Tuscany to the sun-soaked groves of Andalusia. Yet it is here, in the sands of Tara Iti, that they have found their truest expression. Small in scale and boundless in care, the grove reflects the philosophy of restraint over yield – quality above all.

Sustainibility

N a t u r e i s t h e C r a f t

At Tara Iti, sustainability is not a trend – it’s a truth we live by. Our grove is organically maintained, nourished by natural subterranean springs and tended with minimal intervention. Every decision, from regenerative pruning to carbon-conscious packaging, is made with care for the land we steward.
